so, you know, i never post in livejournal, but dang girl, lollapalooza was fucking amazing. in order to clarify the significance of this post, i went to australia + new zealand for 2 weeks earlier this summer and i didn't even make a post about that.

so it was pretty mindblowing. it was so hot and crowded but i, along with anjali & jake, insisted on going to the front for the best bands, which was completely worth it. the flaming lips and violent femmes were my favorite shows. cursive and broken social scene and lady sovereign were really good too. i'm going to write a detailed summary but don't read it cuz you'll get bored and i'll be embarassed

anyway, friday was a great start. while waiting for cursive, we listened to the sound team, who i thought was really good, and of course cursive was fucking amazing (especially from the third row!). oh, tim, why are you so cool? after milling around, i got towards the front for lady sovereign and she fucking rocked and got the crowd really into it and even started a mosh pit, ha ha. i listened to the raconteurs from far away while waiting for the violent femmes, which was definitely worth it! i was in the very first row in the center, dancing and singing the entire time. then i watched death cab from far away which i really liked even though ive never really listened to them.

SOOOO then on saturday we had to get there promptly at 11:30ish to be the front for rainer maria -- they were great even though they could only play for half an hour. then we listened to the nada surf and the go! team from far away, but then i went an hour early to get a good spot for sonic youth but i could only get into approximately the third row of people. sonic youth rocked pretty hard but i didnt know a lot of the songs. flaming lips were next and the crowd went fucking crazy but i held my ground, and the flaming lips were fucking amazing!!! he had the crowd singing the entire time and it was so much fun. theeeenn i heard thievery corporation for the first time and i loved them instantly. it brought out my inner iranian fire. just kidding guyz. i didn't really listen to either manu chao or kanye for more than 10 minutes -- oh well!

k so last day, sunday-- we get there early for andrew bird, but first listened to mucca pazza. we had no idea who they were but they were hilarious and pretty fun. they're a marching band of ~ 28 people (anjali counted). then the frames were next who none of us particularly liked but we were holding down the first row so ya know. k then andrew bird but too bad all of us are freaking out from standing in the same spot for 4 hours and we can't move cuz the andrew bird crowd is a bunch of stiffs. we listened to the shins, of montreal, and wilco from far away. oh and both andrew bird and 30 seconds to mars were doing signings during of montreal, so i decided to be a freak and admire from afar. oh jared leto, you hottie with too much makeup. k then i watched broken social scene from a decent spot and danced away cuz they were great. then listened to red hot chili peppers from far away for only half an hour.
